As part of the Oarsome Project, seven Year 9 learners took part in an indoor rowing competition competing against other Warrington schools. The Oarsome Project, in association with the British Rowing Society, is an outstanding opportunity for selected Year 9 learners who were willing to commit to two hours rowing practice per week and in return receive coaching from a British Rowing trained instructor.
Rosie from 9KO has kindly written a review of the outcomes on the day.
“We recently attended an indoor rowing competition, competing against other schools in Warrington. It was good fun and we all really supported each other as a team.
We are happy to say that we came back with four medals!
Courtney in 9DO gained a silver in the 4-minute girl’s race and Callum in 9RC won a bronze in the 4-minute boy’s race.
The girl’s team, Jessica (9RC) Courtney (9DO) and myself, Rosie (9KO) also bagged a silver in the girl’s relay race and the boy’s team, Callum (9RC) Lewis (9CH) and Lewis (9CH), received a gold.
We had so much fun and we are very excited for the regatta in July.
